Morays Vol. 1. Limited Edition CD is available for pre-order. The four-piece band formed in 2020 shortly after former Chicago Reader co-workers Mark Blade (God’s Acre, Waste Kings, Crown Royals) and Tim Davison (Empire Smalls, Cinema Explosion, Clerics) ran into each other at a Spiritualized concert. After discovering their similar tastes in music they decided to start a new music project eventually adding Robbie Butler (Clerics, New Rob Robbies) and Jason Walker (Chamber Strings) to the mix. 
 
Work on the Vol. 1. began in 2021 after Tim broke the news he was moving to Asheville, NC that November. To document their work to that point, Mark bought the necessary equipment and taught himself the recording basics.
 
The album covers a lot of territory. From the free and easy hook of How Did I Get Here and the fuzzed-out guitar of Kicked in the Pants to the weird mountain road poetry of True Velvet and the Ennio Morricone-inspired desert jam of "A Man Called Hole," Vol. 1 effortlessly hops between genres and reflects the collaborative environment in which it was created.
